Monster Energy Drink is Seeking Interns, Skaters Welcome to Apply

Are you a skater with dreams of working in the extreme sports industry? If so, the time to act on those dreams is now. Monster Energy Drink is about to kick off a search for two interns and skaters are more than welcome to apply. Here are the details:

Contest Basics

From April 9, 2012 through June 1, 2012, Monster Energy Drink will be holding an Ultimate Intern Search contest. The top prize is a two-month internship that will allow the winner to work behind-the-scenes at the Street League DC Pro Tour, the Vans Warped Tour and the X Games 18. Only two people will be granted internships. The contest’s winners will get to rub elbows with skateboarding’s elite as well as learn how skate contests work from the inside.

Why it Rocks

In my opinion, it is a great opportunity and one all serious skaters should seize upon. I can tell you from personal experience that internships in general are a superlative way to launch a career. They also give you a dose of reality and help you to decide if a particular career is really right for you. Think of it as a practice run of sorts. Just think about the potential. The winner will get to travel, make valuable connections, have fun and learn a few things in the process. There’s a ton of sports swag involved as well. Personally, I don’t think that an internship opportunity gets much better than that.

How to Enter

In order to enter, you’ll need to upload a one-minute video plea to the company’s Facebook page explaining why the opportunity should be yours. Given all the skaters and other sports fans expected to apply, you better make it good. I’d suggest that you shoot a few practice videos first and then pick from the best one. I’d also recommend that your plea be in line with the company’s branding image.
Once your video is posted, you’ll want to round up your friends and have them vote for you. The entries will also be reviewed and voted on by a panel of celebrity judges. After the votes are tallied, the field of hopefuls will be narrowed down to six people. Those six people will then go on to compete against one another for an entire week. The two people left standing at the end of the week will win the internships. Additional details about the contest and the internships may be found on the company’s website.
