Vintage Photo of Alvina Canfield-Decker (Circa Late 1800s)

This photo is of Alvina Canfield-Decker, who also went by the first names Elviney, Elvira and Elvey. Her parents were Jacob and Eunice Canfield. She was born circa 1844 and died circa 1902.

She married Alfred Decker circa 1870 and lived at least part of her life in Orange County, New York. She and Alfred had several children. Based on available U.S. Census records, they were named Mary, John Dennis and Charles Alfred.

Elviney's father, Jacob Canfield (B.1806), was the son of David Canfield (1772-1868) and Mary Sammons (1787-1858). His family line goes back to Harlstone, Northamptonshire, England. The patriarchs were John Camfield (1522-1559) and Isabel (1517-1559).

Elviney's Mother, Mary Sammons, was the daughter of Johannes Sammons (1749-1830) and Margaret Wynkoop (1759-1847). Her line stretches back to Jacob Sammons (1692-1750) and Catalyna Benson (1683-1755).
