Birdsall Mill, Seelyville, Wayne County, Pennsylvania - Circa 1850s

The history of Seelyville or Seely’s Mills dates back to at least the 1840s. At the time, it was part of Wayne County, Pennsylvania. The woolen mill in this picture was built by James Birdsall. According to local lore, only ten men worked there in 1852 and by 1957 the factory was out of business. While it was in operation, they made Civil War supplies and woolen blankets. This photo was part of the late H.A. Decker's collection.
